Trivia:

Jordan's economy had achieved high growth of over 7% on average since the 1990s, thanks to the results of macroeconomic and fiscal management reforms through the economic structural reform program (ended in July 2004) implemented in cooperation with the IMF. However, economic growth has slowed due to the impact of the global financial crisis in 2008 and the Syrian crisis (acceptance of Syrian refugees) since 2011. The country faces structural problems such as income disparities between urban and rural areas, high poverty and unemployment rates, and a chronic fiscal gap, and is still vulnerable to foreign financial assistance, regional security situations, and short-term capital inflows from abroad. The country's economic and fiscal situation has further deteriorated due to the spread of the new coronavirus since 2020, the situation in Ukraine since 2022, and the worsening situation in Gaza since October 2023.
