Trivia:

Although the monarchy was abolished in 2008, the relationship between Japan and Nepal has traditionally been good, with exchanges between the imperial and royal families, as well as between members of parliament and economic and technological exchanges.

In November 1998, Prime Minister G.P. Koirala visited Japan for the first time as Nepal's democratically elected Prime Minister, and in August 2000, Prime Minister Mori visited Nepal for the first time as a Japanese Prime Minister.

Previously, the Indian rupee was usable in Nepal, but now the use of 200-2,000 Indian rupee notes is prohibited, and although other banknotes may be usable in some cases, they are generally not usable.

Nepal is a poor, developing country with no particular resources or special products, so many people migrate to Japan to work, and there are 70,000 Nepalese people living in Japan.

On the other hand, there are just over 1,000 Japanese people living in Nepal for long periods of time.
